There is no pedestrain crossing here. It is an intersection of 2 sidewalks, and a path created by jaywalkers. There is a crosswalk to the west and one to the east.

Most people would look at a sidewalk approaching a roadway like this one and expect it to be a crossing and so they treat it as one, albeit very dangerously. If pedestrians are encouraged to move in that direction I feel it should be made to be a safe option or the sidewalk in question should be removed to cut down on the dangerous movements.

Most people walking south or east from our State Capital Building would look for a nearby crossing even though it requires a few extra steps, rather than walk straight into dangerous traffic. Pedestrians should be encouraged to cross traffic at crosswalks.

Haven't seen any changes to this crossing since winter. Hopefully something will be done before this winter.

Nothing has been done to improve the safety of this crossing for pedestrians that I've observed.

I've learned that a solution to this is being worked on.

Fencing was installed this past year to block/ discourage people from crossing where it's not safe.
