why has the city not painted lines to make the corner at the end of 28th street and w 2 lanes in each direction around the corner? Are they going to leave those those big orange markers there forever?
Im wondering too! Why did they spend all the money widening the road then put those giant orange cones there? Making it go from two lanes down to one lane in the corner, then back to two lanes again. Is two turning lanes in one direction too difficult a move for these awesome pa drivers?? If anyone is wondering, this is right by the field house.
@ idk the right lane has the right of way in that case... the left lane was made as a secondary traffic lane cuz of the turning on 1st... make sure you yield to the person in the right lane (seems weird i no but thats what our drive instructors and police say)
and with the 28th and 9th issue... i do seriously think ppl in pa cant figure out 2 lane turning its so easy but no one was able to figure it out lol so they shut the second lane down..how pathetic hey lol
the pilons are by the corner by the fieldhouse to help mark out the curve and make it safer so people would hit pilons instead of each other in an accident situation as the corner isnt double lane but it is odd shaped, it was built that way to accomodate the development that will be happening on the west hill eventually that road will go straight through as well passed the fieldhouse and it will all be developed, by making the road that way when building it it saves them from having to rip it up and redo it when that development happens
I think the problem is that it is a 90 degree corner. I am not sure what the development plans for that area are like, but most situations like that call for for lights or a stop sign. This isn't a normal corner as I don't I've never seen anything like it. I should think that that the normal intersection is only half built
what i do not understand is why the city has not ticketed the drivers of prince albert . when turning north from 28 street on 10t h ave sgi states you must pull over to the far right and turn in to far right lane. is it because so many drivers would lose their licence if they did this, i have. even seen the police not make this propper lane change. but watch out if you are speeding. maybe the road be safer if the drivers that forgot propper lane changing be pulled of the road instead of the speeders.
@PAnow staff: Has there been an editorial on this intersection? What plans does the city have to complete this mess?
.
From my experience with this intersection, there always seems to be a race to the corner and whoever gets to it first makes the corner (quite a few times almost causing accidents)
.
...the posted road signs do not seem to matter to the people driving the road (from either direction).
I don't care what the signs say, when driving it should be very clear where the lanes are, especially if 1 ends. I vote for CLEAR PAINTED LANES and a stop sign at the curve/corner of 28th st and 10th ave. It will alleviate some of the confusion and the corner is so sharp, you almost have to come to a complete stop anyway!
