There is a recent police report for a pedestrian hit on Peeler Road near the park but no report on file for a pedestrian hit on North Peachtree. A crosswalk is not recommended at this location because there are safer crossing options at the traffic signal 400 feet to the north and another crossing 400 feet to the south. The park entrance is also on a curve which would make pedestrians less visible on the east side of the road.

Theoretically, pedestrians can walk more than a football field in either direction to cross at a crosswalk. In reality, pedestrians routinely cross North Peachtree at the park entrance for events at the park. Perhaps a street light in conjunction with a crosswalk would ensure safety. It could be synchronized with the light at Peeler.

Also, I am surprised that there is no report, as there were at least 4 DPD officers on the scene that afternoon. I spoke personally with two of them. I am the Rector of St. Patrick's, across the street, and am deeply concerned about the safety of our neighbors who park in our lot and -and then cross to Brookrun.
