Description
There is a poorly erected, maintained fence on the property line dividing The Essex Condominiums abd Coventry Row Condominiums. The fence was erected by The Essex HOA without approval of the residents. It was erected without the proper building permits. We have attempted to contact the Essex management but have been rudly hung up on by the property manager at The Essex. We have been told by The Essex that unless we are a resident to "Mind our own businees and keep your dogs off our property" When we asked for the HOA president name and number we were told by The Essex management that information was protected by law. We keep our property maintained and wonder why our neighbors cannot due the same. We have been told The Essex is struggling financially. Please help us fix this problem. Thank you, Collen. Just call The Essex and see what tone you are met with. NOTICE the overgrown weeds. This fence is UNSAFE. The other issues at The Essex are the failure to maintain code for Americans with Disabilities. NOBODY has any control of HOA's!! Fence being held together with twine.

Collen, I just noticed this today. Had I noticed sooner, I would have tried to contact you. I know the fence has been removed.
The financial issues - the majority of the hoa dues that come in (over $250K/year) go to 3 line items - "management", "maintenance person", and "lawn service". If you still live at Coventry, then you understand why those are in quotes.
Up until about 18 months ago, the "maintenance man" had cataracts, severe enough that he could not see from one end of a building to the other, and he drove from Salisbury and back every day.
There are a lot of things wrong with the Essex. The manager, has been in charge since the Essex was rental property. The name the manager uses professionally, and has signed legal documentation (notarized and recorded) is not the same name as is on their county voter registration.
The "pipe dream" is that some developer will purchase the property a la Rosewood at Providence and Sharon Amity.

Have your attorney run a background check on the manager, the name she uses may not be her legal name. You can find documents she has signed under the alias she uses on record with the Secretary of State and the Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds.
As an owner, this is the first that I have heard that the rental units are now Section 8, and I'm pretty ticked off about it.
